The Unknown magazine
Unknown is a cryptid magazine is a college project focusing on magazine design and fonts. I chose cryptids due to my love of Cryptozoology and folklore. it explores both wellknown and forgotten cryptids from around the world.
The front cover was inspired by the artist marcelo Monreal's flower designs expect rather than human i used a jackalope. The back page was inspired by olly moss's landscape poster designs, using colour vectors to create depth in the image.
Inside pages inspired by Saul bass due to how his sharp stylw helped with the eerie atmosphere i wanted it to give. this led to the more abstract textbox stle as well. I ended up using different monochrome colour palettes for each cryptid topic to section them on the pages.
The font "Cryptid"
I designed my own font for this project using illustrator. I used various parts of cryptids (e.g. spikes, tails, etc) to personlise the letters, with a serif font.
